time for Payback unused dialogue master post (the mission is internally referred to as SS or SweatShop)
i think this mission is pretty good as is but i'm still kinda disappointed it ended up being basically a Wei only show since during some point in development the Boys had a much more active part in it, in both a functional sense where they would've been actually present in it even beyond the beginning, but also just portraying them as actual characters. like i've already posted about how Vincent originally had a ton of dialogue for this mission, probably around the same amount as in Listening In, and they paint a pretty good picture of just what kinda person he is
another Water Street Boy who initially had way more to say was Calvin who's not even shown on screen in the final game, you just hear his disembodied voice when the Boys light up the warehouse
the convo between him and Wei where he asks about Dogeyes was probably originally intended for Duke because he says a similar line, but it was only recorded by his original voice actor (TC era Duke i assume). maybe Calvin's character was a later addition and UFG tried to incorporate him into the story more by giving him random inconsequential convos originally intended for Duke or Conroy. anyways Duke himself didn't have a whole lot to say beyond that and most of it's just leftovers from his original VA
then there's Conroy who also doesn't have a whole lot of unheard stuff beyond what's already in the game, there's the line about Wei having to get blood on his hands to prove himself that in the final game only plays in Wei's nightmare after the mission, and also him getting really excited about burning down the sweatshop
i think this bit is interesting though: "You take the back. Draw them away from the front and then we'll come in" like they almost let Conroy take charge over the one single thing he's supposed to be good at for this one shining moment. why Wei would never stand for that this is HIS show ONLY. and speaking of
Wei was originally gonna handle SIu Wah a bit differently, way more diplomatic. i guess you could say it's how Charles Ho would've done it because it doesn't really fit Wei's character anymore. also UFG seemed to really want the convo about Wei and Dogeyes to happen but they just couldn't fit it in
Siu Wah naturally has unused lines as well but i'm only here for the Boys. iirc he did have a different voice actor originally though
